The following three comprehensive medical/surgical policies have a $375 deductible per claim, and include:

1. $15,000 Major Medical plus Surgical - pays up to $15,000 on horses insured for $15,000 or more and costs $625. Limits diagnostics to $2500 (aggregate $4000) and treatment to $2500 (aggregate $4000). Deductible $400.
2. $10,000 Major Medical plus Surgical - pays up to $10,000 on horses insured for $10,000 or over, and costs $525. Limits diagnostics to $2500 (aggregate $4000) and treatment to $2500 (aggregate $4000). Deductible $400.
3. $7,500 Major Medical plus Surgical - pays up to $7,500 on horses insured for $7,500 or over and costs $425. Limits diagnostics to $2500 (aggregate $4000) and treatment to $2500 (aggregate $4000). Deductible $400.

 

To clarify, the three above-listed comprehensive medical/surgical endorsements provide that:

1. Sudden and catastrophic lameness issues, such as founder, or sudden physical injury, and will not be subject to the above-mentioned limits.
2. Most treatments that are typically excluded by other companies, such as IRAP, Tildren, Stem-cell therapy, nuclear scintigraphy, MRI, and shockwave therapy, are covered.

For horses at higher athletic risk (eg. jumpers, advanced dressage, reiners, event horses) where a limit on lameness diagnostics and treatment may not be desirable, we recommend the following:

1. $10,000 med/surg for horses insured at $10,000 and above, premium $500, deductible $500. No internal limits on lameness diagnostics or treatment.
2. $7,500 med/surg for horses insured at $7500 and above, premium $275, deductible $300. No internal limits on lameness diagnostics or treatment.
3. $5,000 med/surg for horses insured at $5,000 and above, premium $225, deductible $300.
